Version 2.4 - Asset update!

Select your assets

No more manual entry! The Starforged Crew Sheet is now more user-friendly than ever. Add assets to your character sheets as easily as selecting them from a dropdown list. Same goes for Starship modules and support vehicles.

Custom asset support

Unhide the "assets" sheet to add custom assets to the database.

Other improvements

  • Character art can be added by pasting an image URL into a placeholder under "characteristics." Artwork is also displayed in the Starship sheet in a collapsible row group underneath everyone's stats.
  • Progress tracks were previously formatted with double borders, but these created an uneven space in the first box and caused the tick-mark graphics to render slightly smaller. Minor, but it bothered me, so I changed the vertical borders to dotted lines. Voila!
  • Assets are now laid out horizontally. Why? Because computer screens are horizontal. Now it's much easier to see each asset in its entirety.
  • Under the hood: I reorganized data in hidden columns to make future updates cleaner, easier, and faster. Formulas are now less likely to break during updates and reformatting! This was an important improvement that allowed me to overhaul how assets work.
  • Various formatting mistakes (fonts, conditional formatting, etc) were fixed. Yay!

What's next?

What would you like to see in future updates? Let me know in the comments!

Here are some things I'm considering:

  • Add Ironsworn, Delve, Sundered Isles assets to database?
  • Add a toolbar menu that generates one-click Oracles prompts?
  • Add Truths sheet, to edit collaboratively and reference during play?
  • Improve Sector mapping?
  • Improve Dice Roller?

I may have a bug on the character art. I insert the following URL: https://drive.google.com/file/d/193GpQ_xlm6qS5IonGyME93ZORY_hzvzW/view?usp=shari... (usable by all if you need to test) and it shows a blank square instead of the art.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm looking into it.

Looks like this URL doesn't play nice with the IMAGE formula. As a rule of thumb, generally the URL needs to end with the file extension (e.g. ".jpg" or ".png"). The documentation for the formula specifically states: "You can only use URLs that aren't hosted at drive.google.com." If that seems silly, trust me--I agree! You can learn more here.

Whenever I need to get a permalink from hosted images, I usually use Imgur or Google Photos, which both allow you to right click > copy image address.

Hope that helps!

All good. And yes this does sound silly 🤷🏻‍♂️

And a small suggestion, if I have not overstayed my welcome: if you could add a tab to log a few lines for each session. I know this is beyond easy for us to add ourselves (already done here) but I feel this would complete the package.

Ok, enough babbling, take care and keep up the excellent work,

Thanks, and your feedback's always welcome! I know that the preferred methods and tools for logging adventures are as diverse as players. It's a good idea, and I'll give it some thought. If I find a way to create a built-in session log (captain's log? :P) that is slick enough that I'd want to use it myself, then I'd consider adding it. Generally, I try to avoid bloating the playkit with tools that don't improve on what's available elsewhere (such as using Google Docs, for instance).

This update rocks !

My preference for future updates:

1) Add a toolbar menu that generates one-click Oracles prompts

2) Add Truths sheet, to edit collaboratively and reference during play

3) Add Ironsworn, Delve, Sundered Isles assets to database - BUT you probably should do a new sheets for those and charge for it…

I’m so glad you like it, and I appreciate your feedback!

Version 2.5 update is live! You can find the devlog here. I think you'll be pleased with the new Truths sheet, and I also added a Moves reference sidebar that I'm really excited about. I'm currently experimenting with how I want to implement Oracles. Cheers!
